The QA1 DD702 Proma Star Coil-Over shock assembly is perfect for the Merak and Merak SS. These shocks feature poly bushing ends that reduce noise and vibration making it ideal for street driving. The needed bushing inside dia. size is .5″. The bushing mount style mates perfectly to the existing top and bottom mounting bolts and will require spacers on each side of the bushing for proper centering. The recommended ride height range is 16.00″ – 16.75″. The lowered setting gives the Merak an aggressive stance as well as improved handling on the street or track environment.
The QA1 DD702 Proma Star shock has separate settings for compression and rebound. The reinforcing bracket of the lower A-Arm will need to be radiused 2 mm. to have the needed clearance of the adjusting dials when lifting or lowering the car.
The required spring spring dimensions are 14″ length and 2.5″ OD. A spring rate of 200 psi will yield a very comfortable ride while a spring rate of 250 psi will offer a much sportier ride suited for spirited driving.
The OEM rear shock assembly weighs is at 21.5 lbs. while the QA1 coil-over assembly weighs in at 6.75 lbs. significantly reducing unsprung weight.
